First Friday April 3rd @ the Neon Venus Art Theatre…it’s Vegas baby!

Our past First Friday was a great celebration of fashion, music, and Improv!  We had lots of people join us from 5:00pm until 1:00 in the morning.  Our art installation for this past First Friday consisted of gathering fashion designers and models to create art in the moment.   The designers literally made the clothes right on the models, and then the models strutted their stuff on the runway. It was all about creating art quickly and with a small budget.  After all, beautiful, creative things are at the tip of our hands with just a little effort and lots of imagination.  Absoluty fabulous Kit Rogers was behind all the planning for this fashion show art installation (with his crew of fashion designers and models), plus some acts and musicians brought in by Neon Venus, for a perfect mix of entertainment and mixed media.  In general Neon Venus the band and Kit are the masterminds for all art installations, which are part of the documentary “Glamnation. Creating Art In Sin City: The Story of the Neon Venus Art Theatre”.   Every First Friday other artists join us on stage and/or the field to complement the festive moment and make a statement about creating art in Las Vegas.  Among those joining  the art installation and fashion show this past April 3rd were great contortionist Stephanie Castellone and friend, as well as musicians improvising with guitar and drums.  Thamar and Arles were among the musicians who were jamming away.  Jose Jorge played a great set of his songs and he was followed by Neon Venus (the band) and Hassan with Cloth and Canvas, then the Droppers.  After our last band our own Improv group took the stage for fun and games.  The Neon Venus Art Theatre Improv Group has  a class every Sunday at the theatre, then they rehearse during the month and perform every First Friday.  Grant Waters teaches the class and produces the show.
